Do I have to be a professional working actor to do a group session with A.E.G.?
Absolutely Not. We encourage all actors to participate in group sessions, regardless if you are professional, amateur, working in a project or between gigs. However, we do work with the intention of a professional actor. For us this means, we focus on material that provides a wealth of choices to challenge our technical skills and emotional range. We practice with material that offers challenges not obstacles.
Do I need to be apart of SAG or AFTRA or AEA to do a group session with A.E.G.?
Absolutely Not. Both non and union actors are welcome to participate in a session.
Who typically participates in the group sessions?
Typically actors and actresses ranging in ages 25-34 that are Bachelors degree holders, very passionate about the craft of acting and the rehearsal process, and extremely interested in connecting with other up and coming Los Angeles based actors.
I am 19 years old. Do I have to be 21 years old to participate?
Yes. You must be 21 to participate in group sessions with A.E.G.
Can I pay in advance via debt?
Yes. If you prefer to pay via debit you may. Simply email [email protected] and notify us that is your preference, and we will direct you further.
I am a director. Can I direct a scene at an A.E.G. session?
Directors are more than welcome to be apart of A.E.G. sessions. However, directors must participate in the scene as an actor. They can feel free to direct their scene, but each person must participate as an actor on their feet.
Do I need to bring anything to a session?
No. You do not HAVE to bring anything. However, it has been helpful to other members to have a writing utensil and paper for notes, and/or their note-taking device etc....
I am interested in attending a session: Can I do my own original monologue?
Absolutely YES! We encourage our members to perform original work and/or work that they are excited about getting on their feet with and sharing with the other members.
What is the membership fee?
Their is no membership fee to become apart of A.E.G. The only fee is $10 per session you choose to take. Once you take a session you are a member.
My friend and I want to do a scene together, can we?
Absolutely YES! We encourage members to bring in scene partners to perform pieces they are working on. However, each person must pay and sign up individually, but in your email let our administrator know your partner request and the scene which you are bringing to the session.
How do I know my scene partner if I sign up individually in advance for a session?
You find out your scene partner and scene at the session. This is a way to promote spontaneity and freshness in the scene. Pairing new people with material that receives "new eyes" is an effective tool in expanding your range artistically.
I am a playwright. Can I submit my script to have A.E.G. members use it?
Playwrights are encouraged to be apart of A.E.G. sessions. However, each playwright must participate in the scene as an actor. They can feel free to bring their script scenes, but each person must participate as an actor on their feet.
Do I have to be a serious trained actor to participate in a session?
Absolutely NOT. Above all else this is "play". We are here to have fun, practice and stretch our imaginations. Although, we are intended for individuals that are very interested in "acting" as an art form and that are looking for deep meaningful (though fun) experiences to help advance their creative minds and careers.
Can I do improv instead of a scene or monologue?
Our focus in scripted text, be it theater, film or television. We aim at having a structure of text so we can give specific feedback.
Can I audit a session to see if I like it before I pay?
Unfortunately no. All persons at the sessions must participate as an actor.
How do I cancel if I reserved a slot and know I can not make it?
If for any reason something happens and you need to cancel you should email [email protected] ASAP to free up your slot.
***It is extremely important to do so because you will be effecting your scene partner if you do not show. And out of consideration for your fellow members, we like to ensure as best we can that everyone has a partner.****
What if my partner does not show?
If for some reason your partner does not show you will be paired with another member or Draper.
How are the scene options chosen?
The fundamental scenes that we use in A.E.G. sessions are drawn from the material used to work with the network of today's brightest up and coming working actors. Contemporary scenes that offer a challenge for actors technically and that are creatively stimulating.
What if I want to take a session and don't like the scene chosen for me but I have nothing else?
A new scene or monologue option you will be assigned to you at the session.
Does A.E.G. meet inside ever?
Yes. A.E.G. does meet indoors sometimes. However, our focus--- for creative stimuli, is the natural outdoors as our space.
Can I make a suggestion about a location or screen/stage/ teleplay?
